Beneath the surface
The first photo was taken from my 3rd photo-shoot. I thought that the photo would not be a big problem with the shadow on her left side as I was going to use a photo of her in her primary school and merge it over the shadow so it looked joined together. It would show what she looked like then and what she look like now.
Recreating Bobby Neal Adams work.
To do this I printed out the image from my photo shoot after cropping it in photoshop, then used the photocopier to scale the school photo up so it was the same size. I ripped the school photo in half and placed it over my image, then used glue to stick it down when I was happy with it. I then scanned in my finished image which you can see below.
Finished Image.
I would say I like the successful outcome of the progress of this image. The things I like about this image is the paper ripped so you can see the paper in middle of the image, also how the two faces are the same size and match really well. I also like the brightness on the primary school photo because it shows that it is older.
I decided to try this process again using a different image from my photo shoot. I chose an image where my model is smiling in a similar way to one in her primary school photo.
This time instead of ripping it in half I decided to rip the eyes out and then mouth on the opposite side and stick it onto my image so it maybe would give the audience more of a clue of what she looked like back then.
Finished Image.
The result of this image is good in my opinion. I must say I love the mouth bit the most because you can see the smile is joined perfectly and that she still has similar teeth. But what I must say is that the hair that was ripped out from the copied image is just a little bit bigger than the size of the photo I took from the 3rd shoot, I would say I could improve this by making it smaller or print it in a smaller size.
I think prefer the first image better than this one as I think the other one was more creative and looked better than this one.
I really liked using this technique and I am considering developing this idea to use in my brief.
